Carla Lane

Carla Lane was one of the UK’s best-loved TV writers. Starting with The Liver Birds in the early 70s, she quickly built up a hugely popular body of work, including classics Butterflies and Bread. She was also a passionate advocate for animal welfare, turning her own house into an animal sanctuary with 250 occupants. She died in June 2016, aged 87.
