Sam McKechnie author of The Magpie & The Wardrobe and Miss Violet’s Doll’s House, will be running two workshops at the Curious Arts Festival on Saturday 21st July and Sunday 22nd July.

Learn how to make your own festival headdress using materials such as bay leaves, feathers, and roses. This workshop is inspired by The Magpie & The Wardrobe – a lovingly curated compendium of traditions and curious customs that have bewitched us for generations.

Making A Fairy Baby with Miss Violet
Sunday 22nd July, 11am 

Learn how to make a fairy baby from vintage dolls and match boxes with Miss Violet – the very chic star of Miss Violet’s Doll’s House – a craft book for creating the perfect miniature residence.

Sam McKechnie is an artist working primarily with oil and found objects and makes quiet pieces, usually on commission. Sam’s work is inextricably entwined with fairytales, magic and charms and her work has featured in many books and magazines across the globe. She created The Magpie & the Wardrobe atelier in 2002 as an extension of her artwork and releases two collections worldwide every year.
