Pavilion signs award-winning nutritionist and dietitian Azmina Govindji RD

Pavilion Books publisher Helen Lewis and Commissioning Editor Sophie Allen have acquired, at auction, world rights to publish bestselling author Azmina Govindji’s new authoritative book on vegan health, Vegan Savvy: The expert’s guide to nutrition on a plant-based diet, from Jane Graham-Maw at Graham Maw Christie Agency.
The book will publish on 10th December 2020 and is the first to introduce a unique set of simple, flexible and nutritionally approved tools to make it easier to be vegan without compromising on health. The information in the book is presented through both text and clear and informative infographics.
Azmina Govindji is an award-winning registered dietitian (RD, the only legally recognised protected title in nutrition), consultant nutritionist, international speaker and best-selling author. She is a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association and is a regular contributor to TV food programmes. She has written over a dozen books on weight management and diabetes.
Azmina Govindji said:
“Going vegan isn’t as simple as ‘swapping out steak for spinach’: a poorly designed plant-based diet can affect your energy levels, physical health and overall sense of wellbeing, so it’s crucial to get it right. When my 23-year old daughter decided to go vegan, I became concerned about whether she was going to have enough key nutrients like calcium and iodine. This propelled me into finding an evidence-based yet accessible way for people to go “plant-based” without having to swallow handfuls of supplements.”
Jane Graham-Maw commented:
“The combination of Azmina’s passion and knowledge with Pavilion’s ability to lift the words off the page with unique infographics make this the most useful resource for vegans you can imagine.”
Helen Lewis said:
“We are delighted to be publishing such an authoritative book on vegan health. There are now over 600,000 vegans in the UK – this book will help them to make some sound decisions in their food choices to improve their health whilst on a plant-based diet.”
‘Vegan Savvy: The expert’s guide to nutrition on a plant- based diet’ will be published by Pavilion Books on 1oth December 2020, Paperback, £12.99, ISBN 9781911663416
